Bryan is an active and independent non-executive board director and audit & risk chair with listed, private and public sector organisations, with specific interest and experience related to FS regulatory compliance and emerging personal versus corporate risks.
Bryan previously worked internationally across commercial & personal insurance and banking with IBM Corporation, especially in emerging markets and with major global FS firms on customer management and regulatory matters.
Bryan’s skills and extensive qualifications include board governance, risk management & finance, marketing & sales, cross-cultural and major technology-based change. He is also Visiting Professor, Business Markets at Bristol Business School, has co-authored six business books and is a Freeman of the City of London.

As an independent board member I have reconstructed and chaired Audit, Risk, Standards, Complaints / Appeals and other committees, membership, ToR, governance processes and agendas, in one situation moving from red to green rated within 9 months, providing assurance for a £400m troubled programme.

Developed the first integrated risk register and board oversight processes for a substantial organisation, replacing separated ‘directorate’ or silo approaches to risk management.

Acted as the CEO’s personal programme advisor for a £250m / 11,000 staff change programme which achieved all its published delivery objectives and benefits over a 3 year period

Provided assurance for one of the largest FS data centre moves in the UK supporting huge pension, life and non-life business volumes, subsequently completely replacing the second centre

Provided expert-witness research support for a substantial commercial court claim related to non-delivery of a multi-year IT and change programme.

Professional qualifications include
governance (FIoD, DipIoD, CertIoD), management (Executive MBA, City Business School), Change programmes (CEng), Marketing (FCIM, DipM, FIDM), Technology (FBCS, CITP) and Finance (ACCA CDipAF). Honorary roles include Freedom of the City of London (via the Marketors Livery Company) and Visiting Professor Bristol Business School.
